HISTORY

FDS formally known as Favell Day Services was originally a County Council directly funded operation providing an opportunity for those with neurological conditions to meet together for shared activities and day care provided by a dedicated team of NHS staff.

Following changes to funding models the County Council and the NHS withdrew direct service support, however the users were desperate to see the service continue, knowing that the service met a key need in ensuring they maintained their quality of life.

To this end they formed a member led Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) to continue to provide the service such that there was no break in Day Care provision when direct funding ceased.

The group has now functioned as an independent organisation for nearly three years and is now looking to further expand its membership base by an expansion of its service offer both in terms of days and venues.
